You're the one who holds it all together.
And you're tired in a way few around you understands.
You built something from the heart. From nothing. You took an idea and an enormous amount of nerve and you turned it into a company, a team, a practice, a thing that exists in the world because you willed it into being.
And most days, you can't quite believe you did it. Or you wonder if it was just luck.
You give care all day. You hold the weight of personalities and other people's projections. You absorb feedback you didn't ask for. You manage everyone's feelings, including the ones they're having about you that they won't say to your face.
You come home with nothing left.
You collapse onto the couch with your laptop still in your lap, half-watching something, half-working, fully numb. You tell yourself you'll read tonight. You don't.
You wake up at 3 AM rehearsing what might go wrong tomorrow.
The people who love you can see you're tired, but they can't quite see this: the specific loneliness of being the one everyone leans on. Your team sees a boss. Your kids see a parent. Your friends see someone who has it figured out.
No one is checking on the person underneath all of it.
You don't need another strategy. You need to be a person again.
Imagine putting the weight down.
Imagine waking up in your body again - not anxious, not bracing, just here.
Imagine being witnessed - fully, messily, without performing - by people who actually get it.
What if you could care deeply about your team without needing them to like you?
What if you trusted yourself the way other people already trust you?
What would change at home if you came back to yourself?
What if vitality wasn't something you had to earn after retirement, but something you could feel again this year?
This is what Held was made for.
Held is a retreat for the leaders who've quietly lost themselves inside the role.
Six days at Garza Blanca Preserve in Puerto Vallarta. A small, intimate circle of women, trans, and non-binary leaders - founders, owners, executives, managers. Luxury accommodations, ocean and tropical forest, slow mornings, deep conversation, and the kind of being-seen you can't get from peers who never let their walls down either.
This isn't a strategy retreat. There's no whiteboard, no strategy, no networking. There's no performing.
What there is: rest, witnessing, and the quiet work of remembering who you were before the role swallowed you.
It's not a workshop. It's a homecoming.

What you'll come home with.
By the end of this retreat, you will have a grounded nervous system and a trusted relationship with yourself and the intuition that built everything you have. You'll also have a circle of people who truly see you - so you can return to your work, your people, and yourself, held by a life that finally feeds you back.
More specifically, you'll come home with:
A nervous system that knows what grounded feels like- not as a concept, but as something running through your body - and the practical tools to return to it when work tries to pull you under.
A renewed trust in your own intuition- the same intuition that built your company, your team, your career - and language and confidence to lead from it out loud.
A felt sense of being truly witnessed by a small circle of leaders who carry exactly what you carry, and won't flinch at your mess.
The internal permission to prioritize yourself and tools to make it stick when the patterns try to pull you back.
A reconnection with your body, your creativity, and the parts of you that work has crowded out- so you can actually enjoy your life again, not just survive it.
An ongoing circle of leaders to carry forward, so the support you've been craving stops being a fantasy and becomes a reliable part of your life.
This retreat is for you if…
You're a founder, owner, executive, or leader of a team or a practice.
You're capable, accomplished, and quietly running on fumes.
You're tired of being the one who holds it all together.
You're craving real conversation - not networking, not advice, just being seen.
You've tried masterminds and courses and they didn't touch the actual ache.
You can give care to everyone in your life except yourself, and you're starting to feel what that's costing you.
You're ready to put yourself somewhere on your own list.
This retreat is probably not for you if…
You're looking for tactical business strategy or a marketing mastermind.
You want a typical wellness retreat with a packed agenda and group fitness.
You're not ready to be honest about how tired you actually are.
Six days designed to bring you home to yourself.
Each day has a shape. Each day has space. Nothing is rushed.
Day One - Arrive & Exhale.
You don't have to hold it here.
You'll be welcomed into a space that asks nothing of you. No introductions where you have to explain yourself. Just rest, the ocean, your room, and a slow opening dinner that lets you exhale into being here.

Day Two - The Weight You've Been Carrying.
We begin to open.
A morning teaching on the invisible labor of leadership - the parts no one in your life sees. In the afternoon, your first small pod gathering: three to four people meeting to name what they've been carrying out loud, often for the first time.
Day Three - Who Were You Before They Needed You?
The emotional heart of the week.
A deeper teaching on reclaiming the self beyond the role, followed by protected free time and a second pod gathering.
The day closes with a private candlelit sound healing journey under the open sky - a chance for the nervous system to fully exhale.

Day Four - Come Back to Your Body.
Less talking. More being. But still learning.
A guided body-based morning practice led by our somatic practitioner in residence. A late-morning teaching on nervous system regulation as a leadership skill - the practical tools you'll take home. The afternoon is yours, and the evening closes with a bioluminescent boat tour: out on the dark water as the plankton light up around you. Some light only appears in motion.
Day Five - The Intuition That Built Everything.
Trusting what you already know.
The integrating teaching of the week: the difference between caring about your team and needing their approval, and the way through. A final pod gathering where you name what you're taking and what you're leaving. The week peaks with the closing celebration dinner.

Day Six - Witnessed & Released.
You leave differently than you arrived.
The closing circle, where each person has space to share what they're taking with them.
A simple, intentional ritual to mark the end. A final lunch, then airport transfers home. You leave knowing something you forgot.
And then there's an integration call after you return - because the work doesn't end at the airport.
What's woven throughout the week.
Slow mornings. No one is rushed before 9:30 AM.
Every meal is shared and unhurried.
Daily white space is built in and protected.
Optional journaling prompts each evening.
A private 60-minute 1:1 somatic session with our practitioner in residence, scheduled at your preferred time across the week.
And ongoing access to The Witnessed Circle - our private community of past participants - that opens the week after the retreat ends, so the holding continues.

Garza Blanca Preserve, Puerto Vallarta.
Set on a stunning stretch of coastline just south of Puerto Vallarta, Garza Blanca Preserve Resort & Spa Puerto Vallarta feels less like a hotel and more like a private sanctuary tucked between the Pacific Ocean and the lush Sierra Madre mountains.
The resort was intentionally chosen for Witnessed Retreats because it embodies the exact feeling we want women to experience here: beauty, spaciousness, softness, and deep care.
Suites are expansive, quiet, and flooded with natural light - with private terraces overlooking the ocean, oversized soaking tubs, luxurious beds and linens, and many featuring outdoor jacuzzis, hammocks, and sweeping sunset views over Banderas Bay. There is something profoundly regulating about waking up slowly in a space this beautiful - opening the doors to warm ocean air, drinking coffee while listening to the waves, and remembering what it feels like to move through a morning without urgency.
The culinary experience is equally unforgettable. Mornings begin with fresh pastries, tropical fruit, rich coffee, and long oceanfront breakfasts overlooking the Pacific. Afternoons bring poolside ceviche, fresh juices, cocktails, and conversations in the sun. And evenings unfold into candlelit dinners under the stars - from elevated contemporary Mexican cuisine at Blanca Blue, to exquisite Japanese dining at Hiroshi, to the resort’s stunning new Peruvian concept, Misika, celebrating the artistry and vibrancy of Peruvian fine dining.
And when you’re ready to sink even deeper into rest, the award-winning spa offers massages, hydrotherapy, facials, and ocean-inspired rituals designed to help your nervous system finally unclench. Infinity pools overlook the bay. Jungle walking trails weave through the property. Open-air lounges glow at sunset. Every detail of the resort invites you to slow down enough to actually feel your life again.
This is not a conference hotel.
This is not a productivity retreat.
This is a beautiful place to be deeply cared for while you remember yourself again.
Your room is part of the retreat. Rest is part of the work.
Hi, I'm Jennifer.
I also go by Jen. I'm a licensed mental health counselor, and the founder of Protea Wellness - a group behavioral health practice I built from one therapist (me) to over fifty people across multiple locations, over the last eight years.
I was supposed to feel proud of that. Accomplished.
Sometimes, I did. But truthfully, other times I looked around and felt like an imposter that somehow got lucky.
And there was a long stretch where I would have torched the whole thing if I'd known how to do it without losing everything.
I want you to know that I am not leading Held from a place of theory... I lived it.
For years, I was the person described on these pages. The one waking up at 3 AM worrying about what might go wrong tomorrow. The one finding out, again, that someone had been quietly upset with me for months without saying anything. The one who built something everyone in my life kept calling impressive while I sat in my office with my door closed wondering if I was completely failing at it.
I tried the masterminds. I tried the courses. I learned a lot, but nothing I learned touched the actual ache, which was that somewhere along the way I had stopped being seen as a human and was only seen as the role. The boss. The "mom". The one who has it figured out. The one everyone leaned on. The one who also never seemed to be enough or give enough.
The fantasy of walking away - selling my practice, closing it down, just not doing this anymore - became my secret coping mechanism. I never acted on it. But I lived inside it for years, and I hid it from people in my life who cared about me, because who builds something good and then secretly thinks about burning it down?
What I've come to understand is that the fantasy was never really about my company. It was my nervous system looking for any door out of the way I'd been living.
I didn't need a different business. I needed somewhere to put the weight down. People who could see the person underneath the role. Permission to trust myself again.
And then I found a very small group of people who got it. We built trust so we could be honest about our fears, the times we didn't know what to do, our feelings of being an imposter. And that ability to be vulnerable and be held is what started to change things in me.
But I kept seeing other leaders leaving the field, walking away from their practices, having health problems related to stress. And I looked around for something like I found with my tiny group of those who got it, for others. And I couldn't find it.
So I built it.
I hold this retreat as a clinician and as a leader who has lived inside the exact exhaustion you're carrying. I will not flinch at your mess. I will not ask you to perform. I definitely will not judge you. And I will not let you leave without practices and people that protect what you reclaim here.
I built this retreat for the version of me who needed it five years ago. If that's you, I'd love to meet you in Puerto Vallarta.

FAQ
-
I can't take a full week away from my business. There's no way it can run without me.
I understand this fear better than almost anyone - I've lived it. The belief that your business can't function without you for six days is itself a symptom of the burnout you're trying to address. It's also rarely true. Most of the participants who come to Witnessed retreats discover that their teams handled the week just fine, and that the experience of being truly unreachable for six days is the exact muscle they came to build.
-
I don't really do "retreats." I'm skeptical of woo-woo wellness.
This might not be the space for you. The work here is grounded in clinical psychology and evidence-based somatic practices, but there is also a bit of woo. However, there are no forced rituals, no required sharing, and no performance of healing. Engage as deeply as you want and opt out of anything that doesn't feel right.
-
What if I'm the only one struggling like this?
I promise - you won't be. Every participant is some version of the leader on these pages - accomplished on the outside, exhausted underneath, and craving somewhere to be honest. The relief of discovering you are not the only one is, for most participants, the most powerful part of the week.
-
How small is the group?
10–16 people, by intention. This isn't a conference. It's a small, careful group, curated through the application process to ensure the right mix of leaders are in the room together.
-
I have dietary restrictions / mobility considerations / other accommodation needs. Is that a problem?
Not at all. The application includes space to share what you need. If you have specific concerns before applying, please reach out and I'll answer honestly about whether we can meet your needs.
-
Is there a payment plan?
Yes. A deposit reserves your spot, with two- and three-payment plans available. If you're coming with someone you'd like to share a room with, please speak with Jennifer about double-occupancy pricing.
-
What's your refund policy?
The deposit is non-refundable, as it secures your spot. Beyond that, refund and cancellation terms are shared at registration. Travel insurance is strongly recommended.
-
What's the application process? Why do I have to apply?
The application is short and exists to start our conversation. Once I've read your application, I'll reach out to schedule a brief 20-minute video call so we can meet each other before either of us commits to a week together in Mexico. After our conversation, I'll either send you an invitation to register or, if Held isn't the right fit for this round, I'll let you know with care. The intimacy of this retreat depends on the participants genuinely belonging together - and that starts with a real conversation.
-
Will there be follow-up after the retreat ends?
Yes. You'll have a 1:1 integration call with me four weeks after you return - because the work doesn't end at the airport, and the first month back is when the patterns try hardest to pull you under. You'll also have ongoing access to The Witnessed Circle.
-
I'm interested but not sure if now is the right time.
That's a real and valid concern. If you're not sure, two things can be true at once: this retreat will run again, and the part of you that's drawn to it now is information worth listening to. If it would help to talk it through, you can reach out and we can have a low-pressure conversation about whether this round is right for you.
If you've read this far, something in you already said yes.
You've spent years being the one who shows up. The one who holds it. The one everyone else leans on without thinking twice about whether you have anywhere to lean yourself.
You've built something most people will never build. You've cared for people who will never know what it cost you. You've carried weight that no one in your life can fully see, and you've done it without dropping any of it.
And somewhere along the way, the role you play is the only part of you anyone meets anymore.
The participants coming to Held are versions of you. They built things. They lead things. They're tired in the same specific way you're tired. They've been waiting for somewhere to put it down without being judged for needing to. They are going to recognize you the moment you walk in.
You don't have to keep being the only one who holds it all.
You've been holding everyone for so long. Come be held.
